This book completes our trilogy and I HOPE, HOPE, HOPE it is not the last we see of our friends from Fircrest. I am VERY sorry Shannon but YOU created this monster and NOW you have to give us more, more, more. We knew what was about to happen. We knew that bad things were going to happen within this story. Yes...it was ALL laid down in books one and two. It would have been soooo easy for Ms. Guymon to focus ONLY on this...BUT ohhhhhhh no...she gives us, yet again, a wonderful story of love, family, and commitment. Now, this book is the last in this series BUT we have three characters who need attention at the end of this book. Meredith, Asher, and Pule. Maybe even Sharon. OK so I better on to the story. Oh and what a story it is. The seemingly strongest of the three principle women has become the most vulnerable. There are reasons for this so it TOTALY makes sense. We also have the reintroduction of a character I NEVER, EVER expected to see again...and she has been crafted in such a way that we ACTUALLY begin to care about her. I NEVER saw that coming. WOW! If that were all of it I would consider it an amazing writing success...BUT she pairs her, POSSIBLY, with a completely changed character. My mind was spinning in a good way. Shock and awe for the power of this writer to move us in whatever direction she wants us to go...and we will follow along. Again, I digress. Sorry Shannon but this is your fault. These wonderfully realized side characters! OK...Cleo and Tai. My oh my. Ms. Guymon could easily write books containing sex scenes within them. What SHE does, which is MUCH harder to do, is craft heat in such a way that makes it much more powerful than any one or two page sex scene EVER could. Masterful writing. These two clearly love one another BUT we must never forget we have this back story that must be resolved. Are Cleo and Tai going to become collateral damage or will they survive. This book, along with books one and two are well worth your time. I had THE most enjoyable time reading them. I am sad that they are over and I actually feel like I will mourn this town. I sincerely hope Shannon gives us more from this quirky town. What she must do if she continues the series and gives us a final trilogy is to make sure we have a SERIOUS EPILOGE to make sure we know what has happened to all of the characters we have grown to know and love. A couple pages for such a long trilogy would be unfair to the good folks of Fircrest. They are, after all, family. Amazing job yet again Shannon! Just finished this latest outstanding work by Shannon Guymon! What a great story and adventure. I am not into spoiler reviews, so here is my best shot. I have loved Cleo throughout this series, she is a devoted and loving friend. I like a female character who is strong and motivated by goodness. Cleo is all of these. She so deserved her own happily ever after. I love Tai he is a straight forward no nonsense kind of guy. Like the others in the Matafeo family Tai lives life to the fullest with all the love he has. It is a great book with everything we have come to expect from a Shannon Guymon novel. Love and friendship and family. But this has an added element of suspense I wasn't expecting. Loved this book from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down. Way to go Shannon, I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.
A fun conclusion to the trilogy and a fun addition to the series.
I just realized I never reviewed this the first time I read it. This is Cleo's story, we meet her in the first two books and it was fun to get things from her POV. Cleo was a likable character, she is loyal and kind. She's always looking for the best in others and is a positive influence to those around her. I of course loved her love interst, Tai Matafeo. He was a good fit with Cleo and they had fun chemistry. I do wish we could have seen them together a little more. I sometimes felt like Cleo was with Pule, Meredith and everyone else more than she was with Tai.
The mystery is resolved in this one and although they had to go through some rough spots, especially Cleo (poor Cleo wasn't even the target and yet she somehow kept getting hurt) it brought them all together and ended up giving them all a happily ever after.
Overall, a fun conclusion to the series and it's always fun to escape to Fircrest!
I love this series! Cleo is such a fun and strong character. She's been a bodyguard for her good friends, Rayne and Ivy, but she's not as tough as you might think. She has a very tender heart and a soft side that is endearing. She's a health nut and fiercely loyal to those she loves. I found her likeable and similar to me in that I love to eat well and exercise, but I love my treats too. I really need to try these cronuts--are they real?!
I really enjoyed getting to know Cleo better. She has a way about her that brings down walls. Her new roommate is very bitter, but after a short time with Cleo, the walls come crashing down. Cleo is very open to love, craves to have someone to call her own, and after a few hesitant moments, she fully embraces it when love comes knocking.
I loved the feeling of family that was felt throughout the story. Strong bonds of loyalty are built and the process is very enjoyable. I also loved the threads of humor woven through the storyline. There are many humorous situations and the way the characters handled these, along with the stressful times, really made me like them all the more. The romantic moments were my favorite, of course. There are moments of peril and suspense that are found throughout this series and wrapped up nicely. I'm so excited to continue on with the next trilogy and can't wait to see what happens next with this beloved town of Fircrest!
